OSCOHEALTH Health Information Students Withdraw Petition Against HOD After Fresh Clarifications

The leadership of the National Association of Health Information Management Students (NAHIMS), Osun State College of Health Technology (OSCOHEALTH), Ilesa Chapter, has formally withdrawn the petition it previously submitted over the outcome of the recent professional licensing examination.

The decision was announced in a public disclaimer following renewed dialogue between student representatives and the Head of Department, Mrs. Oluwatosin Abiodun Busoye, over concerns raised after the release of the examination results.

According to the statement, subsequent engagements and detailed clarifications provided by the Head of Department showed that the disappointing examination outcome was not the result of negligence or a lack of commitment on her part.

The students acknowledged that Mrs. Busoye demonstrated dedication and did everything reasonably possible within the circumstances, despite the outcome falling short of expectations.

"We acknowledge that she demonstrated commitment and did her possible best under the circumstances, even though the result did not meet expectations. In light of this, we hereby officially withdraw the earlier petition."

As part of the resolutions reached after the engagement, the association disclosed that class contributions and other related fees paid by students would be refunded to members of the class.

NAHIMS described the decision as a demonstration of transparency, accountability, and genuine concern for students' welfare, noting that it further reflects the department's commitment to addressing issues raised by students responsibly.

The association also commended Mrs. Busoye for her continued support and encouragement to affected students, stating that she had urged candidates not to lose hope but to remain resilient and focused on their academic and professional aspirations.

NAHIMS reaffirmed its commitment to fostering unity, mutual understanding, and constructive engagement within the department, expressing confidence that the lessons learned from the experience would contribute to improved academic outcomes in the future.

The association further encouraged all students not to allow the setback to define their future but to remain determined as they continue their journey toward becoming qualified Health Information Management professionals.
