ITORI, OGUN STATE — The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Southwest Zone D, has condemned the killing of Miss Ahmed Sekinat, an HND II Marketing student of D.S. Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic, Itori, during a reported overnight robbery attack on student residences in the Eruku community.

The attack, which occurred while students were preparing for examinations, reportedly claimed the life of the graduating student, left another student with gunshot injuries, and injured several others.

In a statement issued on Monday, NANS described the incident as a tragic reminder of the growing insecurity affecting student communities across Ogun State.

The association disclosed that students have commenced protests while its representatives remain on the ground to ensure their demands for justice and improved security are properly coordinated.

NANS called on the Ogun State Police Command, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the state government to launch an immediate investigation, arrest those responsible, and strengthen security around campuses and student hostels.

The association also warned that academic activities cannot continue normally where students no longer feel safe within their learning environment.
