OSOGBO, OSUN STATE — The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Southwest Zone D, has commended the Osun State Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi, over his role in the state administration and his engagement with students and young people.
The commendation was contained in a statement signed by the Zone D Coordinator, Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode, popularly known as BILLIONCODES.
NANS Southwest said its assessment of the Deputy Governor was based on its experience as a representative body for Nigerian students and its interactions with the Osun State Government since the commencement of the administration.
Prince Kola Adewusi currently serves as the Deputy Governor of Osun State and is listed by the state government as responsible for Sports and Special Needs.
The student body also referenced previous engagements involving the Deputy Governor and student representatives, including the 2024 meeting between the Osun State Government and student leaders, where issues relating to education, welfare and greater student participation in policy discussions were raised.
NANS Southwest further cited Adewusi’s representation of Governor Ademola Adeleke at the 2025 International Youth Day celebration in Osogbo, where the Governor’s message encouraged young people to leverage technology and collaboration to address contemporary challenges.
Call for Sustained Engagement
The association said such engagements should be strengthened as the administration enters its second term, particularly in areas directly affecting students and young people.
NANS Southwest urged the government to place greater emphasis on education, student welfare, youth employment, entrepreneurship, sports development, security and the inclusion of young people in governance.
The association said it would maintain a constructive relationship with government while continuing to raise concerns affecting Nigerian students whenever necessary.
NANS Southwest also wished the Deputy Governor greater wisdom and capacity as he continues in office, stressing that the new term presents an opportunity to consolidate existing efforts while addressing areas where students and young people expect further intervention.
