NANS Southwest Hails UNILESA VC Over Students’ Reinstatement, NYSC Senate List

ILESА, OSUN STATE — The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Southwest Zone D, has commended the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilesa (UNILESA), Prof. Taiwo Olufemi Asaolu, following the reinstatement of affected students and the resolution of outstanding National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) mobilisation issues.

The Coordinator of the zone, Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode, popularly known as Billioncodes, disclosed this in a statement dated September 7, 2026.

Adeyemo said the development followed previous engagements with the Vice-Chancellor concerning students whose academic status had been affected by rustication, as well as graduates experiencing prolonged difficulties with NYSC mobilisation.

Among those mentioned was Adedoyin Temitope, popularly known as Aregbe.

According to the NANS Coordinator, Prof. Asaolu had, during the earlier engagement, assured the student leadership that the cases would be reviewed with compassion and that the university would pay attention to the outstanding NYSC issues.

Adeyemo said the affected students were subsequently reinstated.

He added that the Directorate of Student Affairs had now confirmed that Adedoyin Temitope and the other affected graduates had been successfully uploaded to the NYSC Senate List.

A Significant Development for Affected Students

The NANS leader described the development as significant for the affected students, saying it would enable them to proceed with the next phase of their lives after a prolonged period of uncertainty.

He also praised the Vice-Chancellor for maintaining an open approach to dialogue and engagement with student leaders.

“Student leadership should not only criticise institutions when things go wrong. We must equally acknowledge leaders who listen and act when genuine concerns are presented before them,” Adeyemo said.

Appreciation to University Management

Adeyemo thanked the University Management, the Directorate of Student Affairs and all officials who contributed to the resolution of the issues.

The association also congratulated the affected students and urged them to embrace the opportunity responsibly as they move forward.

Adeyemo described the outcome as “a promise kept” and wished the University of Ilesa greater progress under the leadership of Prof. Asaolu.
