Kaywhytee emerges as NANS Osun JCC chairman-elect as Zone D tasks new leadership on unity

OSOGBO, OSUN STATE — The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Southwest Zone D, has congratulated Comrade Kehinde Ayokunle Temiloluwa, popularly known as Kaywhytee, on his emergence as the Chairman-elect of the NANS Joint Campus Council (JCC), Osun Axis.

In a statement issued by the Office of the Coordinator, NANS Southwest Zone D, the zonal leadership described Kaywhytee's emergence as an important milestone in the leadership transition of the Osun student constituency.

The statement, signed by the Coordinator, Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode, also stressed that the new chairman's victory should mark the beginning of serious responsibility rather than the conclusion of his political journey.

According to the zone, the confidence placed in Kaywhytee must extend beyond those who supported his candidacy during the election.

NANS Southwest urged the incoming JCC leadership to immediately embark on reconciliation and ensure that students and recognised student structures across Osun State are carried along.

The zonal leadership warned against political victimisation or the use of the JCC structure for personal interests, stressing that the office should remain focused on the collective welfare of Nigerian students.

Among the issues identified as requiring urgent attention are student welfare, campus security, transportation, accommodation, academic challenges, and the relationship between student leaders, school managements, and government authorities.

The zone further charged the incoming administration to maintain an appropriate balance between engagement and advocacy.

According to the statement, the JCC leadership should maintain constructive relationships with institutions and government while retaining enough independence to speak out whenever students' legitimate interests are threatened.

Transparency and accountability were also identified as important priorities for the new administration.

NANS Southwest maintained that the effectiveness of student leadership should not be judged merely by the number of programmes organised, but by the tangible impact students experience through representation.

The zonal leadership also congratulated all candidates who participated in the election, urging them and their supporters to put the electoral contest behind them and contribute their ideas and experience to the development of the Osun student movement.

“An election should not produce permanent enemies,” the statement noted, while encouraging reconciliation among the different interests that participated in the process.

NANS Southwest Zone D said it remains committed to supporting a united, responsible, and effective JCC administration that places students' interests above personal, political, and sectional considerations.

Addressing the chairman-elect directly, the zone said the central responsibility ahead could be summarised simply:

“The election has ended; leadership has begun.”

The zonal leadership wished Kaywhytee a successful tenure and expressed hope that his administration would leave the Osun student constituency stronger than it met it.
