Suspended FUOYE Students Reinstated After NANS, Management Meeting

Students suspended by the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) have been reinstated following discussions between the university management and the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Southwest Zone D. The development was announced in a statement by the Southwest Zonal Coordinator of NANS, Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode, who said the engagement was initiated after concerns were raised by student leaders and stakeholders over the disciplinary measures. According to NANS, the meeting involved a review of the circumstances surrounding the suspensions and other issues linked to former Students’ Union President, Comrade James Adio. The association stated that the reinstated students would now be allowed to continue their examinations and academic activities alongside their colleagues. NANS also disclosed that university authorities provided information regarding actions taken against individuals accused of circulating private content involving the former student leader. Regarding Adio’s case, the university reportedly informed the delegation that the matter would be reviewed further during the next sitting of the University’s Senate. Both parties also agreed to work together on awareness programmes aimed at promoting responsible student conduct, ethical use of digital platforms, and peaceful conflict resolution. NANS Southwest said it would continue to monitor developments while advocating for the interests and welfare of students.
