Osun State University (UNIOSUN) has temporarily closed its Ifetedo Campus while investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the death of a final-year law student, Miss Osunlakin Grace.
The development was disclosed by the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Southwest Zone D, following engagements with the university management.
According to NANS, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Odunayo Clement Adebooye, informed the student body that the university had already commenced an internal investigation into the incident.
The association stated that the closure of the campus was announced to facilitate the investigation and other administrative processes.
NANS also noted that varying accounts have emerged regarding the circumstances surrounding the student’s death, making further fact-finding necessary.
While acknowledging the university’s public position on the matter, the student body said its independent engagement would continue with students, university authorities, and other stakeholders.
The association explained that the exercise is aimed at establishing the facts, identifying possible gaps in emergency healthcare services, and recommending measures to improve student welfare.
NANS urged students to remain calm and allow both the university’s investigation and its independent fact-finding process to run their course.
